Ovana's job is to tell you what is known, how well it is known, and what still needs checking — never to overstate certainty. These are the commitments that hold us to it.
Verification means authority
A claim is only "verified" when an authoritative source says it about that exact school, program, or person — with the date it was checked. Anything true of the credential in general is labelled a general rule, not a verification.
Risk protection is never paywalled
Warnings that protect you from a costly mistake — a closed program, a missed deadline, a dead-end pathway — are always free. We never charge to keep you safe.
Your consent governs sharing
Documents and case details reach a partner, advisor, or sponsor only with your explicit, revocable consent. No consent, no sharing — and you can withdraw it at any time.
Student-first by design
The student owns the case. Agencies and sponsors act only within the consent you grant — they never own you or your record.
How we handle your information
Documents are encrypted and private
Files you upload are stored encrypted and are private to your account by default. They are never used to train third parties and never shown to a partner without your consent.
We don't sell your data
Ovana does not sell your personal information. See the privacy summary for what we collect, how we use it, and how to export or delete it.
Sources are cited and dated
Program and institution facts trace to federal and state sources — IPEDS, accreditation records, and state board program lists. Each certified claim carries the source and the date it was checked. See data credits.
Honest about limits
Where Ovana can only show published or unconfirmed information, it says so plainly rather than dressing it up as verified. Outcomes are never guaranteed — see the disclaimer.
